Re-recorded “Mars” Just the instrumental parts so far, minus solo’s
I really don’t like trains. Especially when hungover, I could be doing so much more with my time. Things like sleeping or eating. Or sleeping, I like that one, and I can’t sleep on a train for fear of missing my stop (even with Norwich being a terminal station).
I’ve also got to make this reverse journey tomorrow evening, hopefully not feeling like my gut has been raped by Oscar the Garbage Monster, but it still won’t be pleasant I’m sure.

Sail Away Demo | City of Dis
EnyaStep? Dubya?
What to blog about tho? Really nothing new, which is actually rather irritating, thinking I enjoy routine, turns out I don’t.
Or perhaps its because I don’t have a particularly interesting routine. Wake up sometime after midday, eat, watch tv/browse web/play games, go to work or end up going to the pub to drink. Either way I usually end up back home late and unable to sleep until the early hours of the morning.
I’m going to blame most of this on the stupid sleeping pattern and welcome any and all suggestions of how to snap out of it.
Then I may actually be able to find more constructive things to do with my time. Finishing my City of Dis project would be a top priority, as I really want to get back in the studio on this one. Or if anyone else has some sort of music project they want to work on, I’d love to collaborate/help out recording or anything really, just to make use of this degree.
Thoughts?

I’m pretty damn happy about this release. Those that know me and my music ways will know that I’m an avid supporter of Reaper, it’s just an amazing DAW and with this update it’s made even better.
For those unaware, Reaper is a freeware Desktop Audio Workstation(for the first 30 days, then you’ll be prompted to purchase a license, which is such great value compared to any other DAW on the market). It started out originally as a rather crude program, compared to rivals such as Cubase, Sonar, Logic and the mighty Pro Tools, however over the years and with the help of so many developers and a flourishing support community, it’s become quite the giant slayer. I personally don’t see why anyone working in a home studio environment would want to run anything else, particularly PC users (running Reaper on Mac’s has, in the past, been a bit glitchy, but I’m told this new release has fixed many of these issues).
The price point is one thing, but it’s functionality is another. It’s very intuitive to get started with, and once you do get to grips fully with it, it can become highly customisable. It’s window docking feature is just one example of it’s ease of use and customisability, allowing you to float or pin down any and all windows, from the editing screen, mixer, virtual keyboard to FX and inserts.
It will seamlessly integrate with your current hardware setup and existing VST’s, but also comes with a massive library of free VST’s. The core REA selection of these are actually highly usable, in fact it’s no stretch of the imagination to complete a mix with nothing but the stock effects. The pitch shifting and time stretching algorithms are certainly some of the best out there today, only matched by Pro Tools.
I think that’s more than enough praise from me, I’d advise everyone in creating music to check out Reaper and give it a go for a week or so. You won’t regret it.
It seems I’m far to easily discouraged from actually doing any work right now. I’d gotten up today, fully prepared to go to the gym for an hour or so. Started getting ready, bag packed and everything, then….NO HEADPHONES!
So, very irritating, can’t exercise without headphones, that’s that really, not going to gym. Now I’m sat watching Relocation Relocation, thinking about eating the last Magnum in the freezer and genuinely a bit gutted that I couldn’t find my headphones and didn’t go to the gym. I could of course still go, with no music, or use my spare ones (which are pretty uncomfortable, but still usable), instead I’m blogging.
Not much else to really blog about right now. Back to looking for more music based work, still composing ready to record the second half of my album project. Hopefully will have that completed before the New Year, and excited to get back to working in a studio.
That’s about it.

I think technology is back on my side. Want to stream X-Men to my PS3 and had no troubles at all this evening.
Good technology makes me happy.
